Sports Desk: Hosting the Olympic Games in India and in the South Asian region could soon be possible. As per a latest announcement by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), India has taken its first step to host the global mega sporting event by submitting a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for hosting the 2036 games.
The president of the Indian Olympic Association and the former athlete PT Usha informed this by posting a video on social media.
“India for 2036 Olympic Games! Furthering our Hon. PM @narendramodiji’s vision of India hosting the Olympics, we have submitted an official Letter of Intent to the IOC to host the games in India in 2036,” she said.
There has been mixed public discourse regarding India’s intent to host the same. While some believe that it is a welcome move and a great initiative, others feel that wishing to host the Olympic games will be pointless and a waste of money, rather Indian should focus on nurturing sportspersons by facilitating better training facilities so that the medals tally can be improved in the future.
