Singer Ed Sheeran begins his new football journey

Sports/Business Desk: Popular singer Ed Sheeran is set to begin a new journey from the musical world to the field of football. He is one of the new owners of the English football club Ipswich Town.

The England born singer, who is known to be a fan of Ipswich Town has bought a minority stake in the football club. This was announced by him and the club through social media recently.

In a post the club revealed with a photo of Ed Sheeran that it was proud to announce that Ed, who had been a lifelong fan of the club and the shirt sponsor for its Men’s and Women’s teams since 2021 had acquired minority shares in the club.

Ipswich Town is a professional football club based in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. They are famously known as ‘The Tractor Boys’. It will compete in the English Premier League in the 2024-25 season after getting promoted from the EFL Championship, which is the highest division of English football league system.

Ed Sheeran bought stakes in the club after the club has made it to the Premier League after 22 years, where they will mark their return with their first matchup against Liverpool.

Ed has also featured in a new promotional music video of the club titled ‘The Boys are Back in Town’ where he is seen riding a tractor on an English farmland. The video was also shared on the official social media of the Premier League.

Earlier, viral videos had also circulated in the media where Ed Sheeran was seen celebrating with Ipswich Town players inside a toilet after the club got promoted to the Premier League.
