India’s government channel DD News rebrands itself, changes color
Business Desk: India’s government news broadcaster DD News is rebranding itself by changing its logo color. DD News has recently changed its logo from blue to orange, signalling a beginning of a new journey for the network.
This was announced by the channel through its official twitter account. Although, it didn’t clarify as to why it chose this particular color and what did it stand for, it stated that while its values remained same, it was now available in a new avatar.
How far the change in the logo color will be successful in increasing its viewership is unknown at a time when media consumers are moving away from broadcast media to digital and now AI.
However, more than its own marketing initiatives, the political debate on social media over the issue is generating far better publicity and audience engagement for the grand old channel. The opposition parties in the country are putting political color on the same by stating that the change in the color was an attempt to safforanise the channel.
Meanwhile, in reaction the leaders from the ruling party has countered by saying that the original color of the logo at its initial years was not blue but orange.
