Sports Desk: There is a good news for cricket lovers in India. Cricket has reached another step closer in becoming an Olympic sport.
The executive of the International Olympic Committee has approved the incorporation of the sport in the Los Angeles Olympics to be held in 2028.
The T20 format of the sport which has gained more popularity in the recent decade has been approved for the games.
This was informed on Friday, 13 October 2023 by the committee through its official social media account in X and its website olympics.com.
In addition to cricket, four other sports like baseball, squash, flag football, lacrosse have also been approved by the Committee.
However, it is still unconfirmed that these sports will be present in the 2028 games as the Executive Board has only submitted the upcoming IOC Session where the final decision will be taken.
Cricket is a colonial sport mostly spread and popularlized by the Brithishers in their conolial countries. It is also regarded as a gentelman’s game. Over the years, even though cricket has lost its relevence and popularity in England, it is considered to be the most popular sport in the Indian subcontinent region.
