India Moon landing: first visuals out

Sci-Tech Desk: The first visuals of the rolling of the rover on the Moon has been released by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) on Saturday, 26 August, 2023.

The video shared by ISRO on its official Facebook and Twitter pages show the Pragyan rover rolling out of the Vikram lander on a flat surface on the Moon.

The shadow of the rover touching down the lunar surface can also be seen in the video.

The visuals were captured by the imager camera present in the Vikram lander.

Earlier, visuals of the moon’s surface taken by the lander just before the successful landing was also released by ISRO across social media platforms.

Following the safe landing of the mission, ISRO also updated on social media about the current state of the same and said ‘All activities are on schedule,’ and ‘All systems are normal.’

The Chandrayaan 3 milestome made India the fourth country to accomplish a Moon landing and the first country to do so in the south pole of the Moon.

The Pragyan rover will be engaged in its assigned task for one lunar day, which is 14 days on Earth.

The success of the Chandrayaan 3 mission has established India and ISRO as one of the superpowers in the world of space research after US, China, and Russia. Besides, it became the first nation to land o the south pole of the Moon.
