Marketa Vondrousova, who came as a tourist last year becomes Wimbledon Champion
Sports Desk: Marketa Vondrousova has won the Wimbledon Championships for the ladies’ singles title.Vondrousova defeated Tunisian star Ons Jabeur in straight sets with score of 6-4, 6-4 to lift her first Wimbledon title.
Vondrousova, who was an unknown name for many during the start of the tournament became the first unseeded player in the Championships in the open era.
Currently ranked 42nd in the world, she stated during the presentation ceremony after the final match that she felt “amazing” on winning the Wimbledon champion, who came as an audience to cheer for her friend in the grass court last year.
Meanwhile, Ons Jabeur who failed to become the first Arab woman to win a major title for the second time in a row at the Championships, said that it was the most painful loss of her career.
