Manchester City win Premier League after Arsenal’s late-season collapse
Sports Desk: Manchester City have won the English Premier League title for the third consecutive time. On Saturday, May 20, City becoming the champion this season was confirmed after Arsenal’s title chase was tarnished with their 1-0 defeat over Nottingham Forest.
Pep Guardiola led City defended their title with still three matched to be played. City lingered at the second spot behind the gunners during most of the time this season, however their consistency and Arsenal’s incapability and inexperience of continuing to handle pressure ensured that City overtook them and seal their hold on the title.
Overall, City have won 27 matches and lost only 4 during the season. Recently, they also won the semi-final against defending champion Real Madrid for the Champions League title and will face Inter Milan in the final. Alternatively, City is also in the contention for winning a treble this season with their FA Cup final derby match against Manchester United to be played on 3 June.
