Nadal could say goodbye next year, will miss upcoming French Open
Sports Desk: Tennis legend Rafael Nadal is set to miss the French Open grand slam this year due to his lingering hip injury.
On Thursday, 18 May, the Spaniard stated to the press about his decision. He is stated that he hasn’t been able to recover from his injury which he sustained last year in Australia which has made his return to the tennis court impossible at present.
Speaking about his retirement, Nadal also stated that he however would like to come back next year, which could also be the time when he would hang his boots from professional tennis.
Reacting to Nadal’s decision, the officials of the French Open expressed their disappointment and twitted they will miss Nadal and it is hard to imagine Ronald-Garros without him.
The organizers also added that they hope to see him come back stronger soon and asked him to take care of himself.
22 grand slam winner Nadal has won fourteen French Open title since 2015. He is often referred as the King of Clay due to his beyond ordinary dominance over a decade.
