Is Erling Haaland the future Leo Messi?
Sports Desk: Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has set a new milestone by becoming the player with highest goals in a single Premier League season.
The 22 year old, who hails from Norway broke the record of 34 goals by Andy Cole and Anal Shearer of Newcastle and Balckburn Rovers in 1993/94 and 1994/93 seasons respectively.
On Wednesday (3rd May) the new Manchester City sensation achieved this feat by netting a goal for his club at the 70th minute against West Ham United. this took his individual goal tally to 35 during this season.
Manchester City won the match 3-0 which helped them to reclaim the top position surpassing Arsenal.
To celebrate his accomplishment his teammates and the fans at the Etihad Stadium gave him a guard of honour at the end of the match. Congratulatory messages also poured in at social media from the football community.
Haaland achieved this milestone at a very young age by playing just 32 matches this season for Manchester City in his first season for the club.
By praising him, City coach Pep Guardiola compared Haaland with the Lionel Messi and said that he will become even better in the next season, reports Manchester Evening News.
