Nokia changes its look, but what does it sell now?
Business Desk: Nokia is on a path of redevelopment through strategy change and rebranding. Recently, the Finnish mobile and 5G equipment manufacturing company unveiled its new logo, which has been changed after almost 60 years since its existence in the cell phone market.
The new logo comes in five different shapes symbolizing the word Nokia without its iconic blue colour. Instead, it will now be replaced with variety of colours depending on the placement and situation.
Speaking through a press release, its current CEO Pekka Lundmark stated that Nokia is rebranding itself and chasing new ambitions.
He also said that from a leading B2C brand once, Nokia is on its path of becoming a B2B technology leader.
On redesigning the logo, he said that the new logo has been designed to look more modern and representative of its new identity.
Lundmark further added that although the heritage of the company would remain same, the world will see a new image of Nokia.
Nokia, was once the global market leader in the pre-smartphone era. It was one of the most loyal brand for cell phone customers for whom a mobile phone meant nothing more than Nokia. However, it could not maintain its charisma in front of its competitors like Samsung and Apple, who invested in better technology and innovation in their products.
Nokia branded phones are still available in the market, however they are now being manufactured by Microsoft and sold with Nokia’s brand name. Due to its downfall Nokia sold its mobile phone division to Microsoft in 2014.
At present however, Nokia is concentrating on selling different B2B services like 5G networks and other electronic services and goods to other companies.
In an official tweet by the company, it stated that “This is Nokia, but not as the world has seen us before. Our new brand signals who Nokia is today. We’re unleashing the exponential potential of networks and their power to help reshape the way we all live and work.”
