Are you ready to pay to use Facebook and Instagram?

Business Desk: Facebook and Instagram owner Meta is likely to launch a new subscription-based plans for its users.

On Sunday, Mark Zuckerberg stated that users might have to pay to be marked as a verified account on its platforms.

According to his statement through a profile update Zuckerberg said that the objective of this new feature is to enhance the security and authenticity of users within the platform.

The Meta boss also said that in order to verify the accounts the uses would require to show their government identifications proofs. This will give them better security support and direct access to customer service.

Only users above 18 years of age will however be allowed to subscribe the same. Besides, the service would not be available for businesses as of yet.

He also added that this new feature would be first launched across Australia and New Zealand by this week.

Additionally, there would be no changes in the accounts that are already verified.

Meta’s decision to launch this new feature on Facebook and Instagram comes soon after Twitter owner Elon Musk rolled out the paid subscription plan for users to get the blue tick mark.
