Scottish independence leader Nicola Sturgeon resigns as First Minister, urges to strengthen support for independence
Global Desk: Nicola Sturgeon resigned as the First Minister of Scotland on Wednesday.
Surgeon who represented the Scottish National Party has been known to be the face of the Scottish independence from Britain.
After leading the country for over eight years, the former minister stated that it was the right time for her to step down form the post.
Following her decision, she also said that the support for it’s the Scottish independence should be strengthened, and people and political parties should unite for it.
Nicola Sturgeon is not only the first female leader of her country, but she is also the longest serving First Minister of Scotland.
She would however continue to serve the office until her successor is elected.
