Sports Desk: David Beckham has sent a message to the defeated England team that recently got eliminated form Qatar 2022.
In a Facebook post, the former England striker said that although the feeling of losing in such a way is always heart-breaking, the players, coach Gareth Southgate, supporting staff, and the fans should be proud with the way England performed in the tournament and should walk away with their heads held high.
Praising England captain Harry Kane – who failed to kick the ball on target in the second penalty – he said that Kane stood up in these moments and did what a true leader would do.
David Beckham also said that in spite of the heartbreak the England team will continue to grow and ‘next time it will be different ending.’
England lost their quarter final match 1-2 to the world champions France after Kane kicked the ball over the goal past in a penalty shoot leaving everyone heartbroken and ending England’s campaign of bringing the trophy home this time.
