Global Desk: This young physically challenged gentleman Ghanim Al-Muftah who performed alongside actor Morgan Freeman must have grabbed your attention on the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup. But how many of you knew him?
Ghanim Al-Muftah, who was chosen as a global brand ambassador by the FIFA is a youth icon in Qatar and the Arab countries. He is a social influencer with a huge popularity in social media platforms like YouTube and TickTok.
Ghanim is a twin who was born with a disability called Caudal Regression Syndrome. This is a live threatening disease with very little changes of surviving. Due to this he was born without both his legs. Although, Ghanim has lived beyond 15 years with his amazing grit, enthusiasm, and love towards life.
His disability however has not stopped him from living his life to the fullest and achieving his goals. Apart from a student who loves to study political science, he is the youngest entrepreneur in Qatar. He is the founder of the ice cream brand named Gharissa Ice Cream which has its presence across Qatar with over 60 employees. He even wishes to expand his entrepreneurial venture around the Arab world.
Not just this, Ghanim is also a TED speaker and sports enthusiast. He is often seen playing football with hand gloves, underwater swimming, diving, and more.
As stated in his official website, ghanimalmuftah.org, he believes that “sports have the unique ability to unite countries and help them in their international relations, they also serve as a vital social cohesion”.
Viewing his influential personality Ghanim was chosen as a brand ambassador by FIFA for the World Cup in Qatar.
Besides, he has also received a several accolades at a very young age. He has been named as the Ambassador of Peace by Kuwait in 2014. Likewise, he also became the Goodwill Ambassador of Reach Out to Asia by ROTA foundations in 2014.
Born in 2002, presently Ghanim is pursuing a university degree with a major in Political Science. He aims to become an international diplomat in future.
