Sports Desk: FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated that football unites people, and it is against any sort of racism.
By condemning a recent incident of fans of Indian sub continental descent being racially abused for celebrating in support of the English team, Infantino stated that the football community must stop racism and try to unite the world.
He said that FIFA wants to maintain its identity of being an inclusive organization that unites people from all backgrounds and cares for everyone’s opinions.
Infantino also added that FIFA is helping people to understand each other and this world cup in Qatar which is already in the spotlight for various wrong reasons will open the eyes of the global community and unite everyone from the west to the Arab world.
In addition to racism, Infantino also spoke about how FIFA is working for people’s welfare of the migrant workers, child education through its investments in educating Indian children, women empowerment by helping the Afghan women’s football team, transgender rights, among others.
While replying to a question about the inclusion of Iran in the world cup where women are prohibited from visiting stadiums, Infantino said that FIFA believes including everyone and attempt to bring change through engagement.
Moreover, Infantino urged everyone to stop spreading negativity about this world cup in Qatar and asked everyone to instead to celebrate and enjoy this tournament which comes only once in four years.
