Former TATA chairman Cyrus Mistry dies in a car accident

Business Desk: Cyrus Mistry, the former chairman of the Tata Group passes away on a tragic road accident on Saturday.

According to reports, Mistry was travelling in a car and was enroute to Mumbai from Ahmedabad when the tragedy took place. The accident reportedly took place in the afternoon when his Mercedes car hit a divider on a bridge somewhere within the Palghar district of Maharashtra.

Further, resorts also say that there were three other people in the car apart from Mistry. One of them was found dead, while the other two were taken to the nearby hospital by the police officials.

Viewing the incident, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis have directed the police to carry out a detailed investigation in regard to the cause of the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have also extended their condolences over the incident.

In a Tweet, the Prime Minister said that Cyrus Mistry was a promising businessman and is   untimely death is a huge loss to the business world.

While, Rahul Gandhi stated that Mistry was among the ‘brightest business minds of the country’ and had ‘significant contribution to India’s growth story’.

Born in 1968 in Mumbai, Cyrus Mistry was the second person outside the Tata family to lead the Tata Sons group.
