Rishi Sunak draws plan to counter China, says China is a threat to global security

Global Desk: Indian origin Rishi Sunak has hit out at China during his poll campaign for the new Prime Minister of United Kingdom and the leader of the Conservative party.

On Monday, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer said that China is the biggest danger to the security and safety of the nation and the world.

By announcing the proposal to shut down all 30 Confucius Institutes in the UK, along with removing the Chinese Communist Party from UK universities, Sunak said that he would subdue the Beijing’s influence on UK if chosen as the leader of Tories.

Furthermore, he also added that a NATO like cooperative style would be used to jointly counter China’s influence.

Sunak’s recent statements came after his conservative rival and former Foreign Secretary Liz Truss blamed him for being lenient on China while he served as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Boris Johnson led government.

Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss are the final two contenders for the 10 Downing Street after Penny Mordaunt was eliminated form the content last week.

The members of the Conservative Party across the country will choose the next Prime Minister through their votes. The results of the same will be announced on 5th of September.
