India: Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has stated that India has become a strong and confident nation that is capable of giving a befitting reply to ‘anyone who casts an evil eye.’
Singh stated this while addressing at an event in Jammu to mark the victory of Indian armed forces in the Kargil War.
The Defence Minister also said the government is focussing on making its defence much stronger and self-reliant.
He also said that making India a global superpower will be the appropriate tribute to the sacrifices of the fallen heroes of the nation.
Mentioning about the ‘Make in India’ vision, Singh stated that from being an importer of defence weapons, India is transforming into an exporter nation and placed itself among the top 25 exporters of global defence items.
In this regard, he also added that 68 per cent of the budget is allocated to obtain defence equipment from domestic manufactures and aims to reach INR 35,000 crore worth of exports by the year 2025 and make India a global superpower.
