Sports Desk: Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra broke his own record at the distinguished track and field athletic tournament Diamond League on Thursday.

Chopra surpassed his earlier record of 89.30 metres with a mammoth throw of 89.94 metres in the tournament held in Stockholm.

However, despite his best shot, Chopra missed the podium finish and also fell short of 90 mark which he aimed for.

Following his stunning performance, he took on to social media and said that he felt amazing to be part of the event in Stockholm where all the throwers had performed their best for the crowd.

“It felt amazing to be back on the Diamond League circuit and even better to get a new PB! All the throwers put up a great show tonight for the crowd in Stockholm!”, he said.

Chopra also added that his next target will be the upcoming world championships in Eugene.

Neeraj Chopra had won a gold medal at the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics and became the first athlete to win a gold at any track and field event for India.
