Guwahati: The CEO of the Reliance Industries Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant Ambani have donated INR 25 crore to help the flood ravaged people of Assam.
The Ambanis who are considered one of the wealthiest business families in the world donated the sum to the Chief Minister of Assam flood relief fund.
Reacting to the Ambani’s gesture Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude and said that it will be helpful in augmenting the relief measures.
“My deepest gratitude to Shri Mukesh Ambani & Shri Anant Ambani for standing with the people of Assam at this crucial juncture by donating Rs 25 cr to CM Relief Fund. We appreciate this kind gesture. This will go a long way in augmenting our flood relief measures,” he said.
The ongoing flood in Assam is one of the biggest in last one decade. Many districts and villages are under water at the moment. It has also destroyed many homes, schools and paddy fields. According to recent reports, over 45 lakh people have been affected and many have lost their lives.
In addition to the Ambanis, several prominent personalities like Dalai Lama, singer Sonu Nigam have also come forward and donated to the relief fund.
