Regional Desk: The smart city of Guwahati is under knee-deep water after a shower at night. The city has come to a standstill.
Roads are seen to be without pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Many two-wheelers and four–wheelers are under waist-deep rain water. The water management department and the GMC and GMDA are seen to be sitting chair- tight to see the havoc done by the rain water that could be flushed out by the authorities.
On the one hand, the people of the city are without drinking water from the agencies like Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority and Jal Board. On the other hand, the people of the city are bound to spend their horrible days in Knee-deep dirty waters.
This is the reality seven decades after Indian independence. Will we need more decades to get things done? This question is asked by every sensible citizen of the city.
