Entertainment Desk: Indian Oscar winning music composer AR Rehman has been chosen as the ambassador of the newly launched British Council’s “India-UK Together Season of Culture”.
This was announced on Wednesday by the British Council India through its official social media accounts.
The aim of this initiative is to mark the 75 years of India’s independence from the British occupation and celebrate its friendship over the years.
Besides, it also endeavours to celebrate the vibrant culture of both the nations by fostering a platform of artistic and cultural collaboration between both the nations.
According to a press release in the official website of the British Council India, this exclusive programme will begin on 7 June 2022 and continue till March 2023. During this, several artists from the fields of cinema, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, and fashion from both the countries are likely to perform.
In a statement, AR Rehman expressed his happiness on being chosen as its ambassador. “Today @inbritish has launched a milestone celebration #IndiaUKTogether #SeasonofCulture marking India’s 75thanniversary. Happy to be the Ambassador for the Season,” he said.
