Petrol stations remain closed in Assam for 24 hours. Read to know why

Regional Desk: The North East India Petrol Dealer’s Association (NEIPDA) declared a 24-hour closure of all petrol stations in the state of Assam to be effective on 13th May.

The NEIPDA announced about the decision through an official press release on Friday.

As stated in the same, the bandh has been announced in protest against the illegal activities within the fuel sector in the state.

NEIPDA have claimed that the oil companies are involved in illicit activities in alliance with the transporters, which is hurting the petrol dealers and retailers.

Moreover, it also stated that the Mazdoor Union are also being used in these activities.

After the official declaration on Thursday evening, vehicles were seen queuing in petrol stations in various parts in the Guwahati city and across the state.
