UK PM Boris Johnson visits India, pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi, also tries to ride a bulldozer at a JCB factory in Gujarat

Global Desk: The Prime Minister of United Kingdom Boris Johnson landed in India on Thursday. Upon reaching the nation he was greeted and received by the Indian officials at the Ahmedabad airport.

As part of his itinerary on the first day, Johnson met the chairman of the Adani Group Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad.

Besides, he also addended programmes along with Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel at the Gujarat Biotechnology University and at a JCB factory, where he was also seen trying to ride a bulldozer.

Additionally, Johnson also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Ashram, and also visited the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar.

In response to is visit Johnson said “it’s fantastic to be in India, the world’s largest democracy. I see vast possibilities for what our great nations can achieve together. Our powerhouse partnership is delivering jobs, growth and opportunity. I look forward to strengthening this partnership in the coming days.”

“I was honoured to follow in the footsteps of millions in visiting the Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad today. As the world faces renewed conflict, Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings remind us of the power of peace in changing the course of history,” he said after visiting the Gandhi Ashram.

Later in the day, he left Gujarat and flew to New Delhi.

He was welcomed by Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar at the New Delhi Airport.

On Friday he is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will be holding talks on strategic, defence, diplomatic and economic partnership between both the countries.
