Sri Lankan Crisis:  PM Rajapaksa says he is ready to meet the protesters and hear their complaints

Global Desk: In view of the unending economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksa has stated that he is ready to meet the protesters and discuss a possible solution for ongoing situation.

Conveying his message on social media, Rajapaksa said that he is willing to hear the thoughts and complaints of the people who have been demonstrating protests against the government at the Galle Face Green promenade in Colombo for days now.

He also said that he is willing to find a solution for the ongoing crisis and discuss the possible cause of action with the people.

Rajapaksa said this through his Twitter account on Wednesday.

“I’m willing & prepared to meet with citizens currently engaged in the protests at Galle Face to hear their thoughts & complaints. Understanding that this is a tough time for all of us, I invite them to meet & discuss any possible, plausible courses of action for the sake of #lka,” he wrote on Twitter.

His latest statement comes ahead of the new year celebrations of the Sinhala and Tamil communities.

Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic crisis in decades after failing to repay debts borrowed from foreign countries.

Its government is struggling to manage the basic supplies for the people due to the shortage of the same.

The citizens of the island nation have blamed the government for mismanagement of the economy that has led to this situation.

Demanding the incumbent President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapaksa’s resignation, people of all age groups have been relentlessly protesting across the country.
