Hockey: Indian women end Netherland’s unbeaten streak at the Pro Hockey League

Sports Desk: The Indian women’s hockey team has clinched an unusual win over the regaining Olympic champions and world number one team Netherlands.

The Indian team defeated the Dutch side in a FIH Pro Hockey League match held in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

With this, the women in blue also ended Netherland’s undefeated streak in the FIH, with their last defeat coming against Argentina back in 2020.

India won this tough fought match with the final score of 2-1.

The Indian side led in the match first with a deflection goal by Neha which was hit by Navneet Kaur.

Just before the half time, India strengthened their lead with another goal by a penalty corner by Sonika.

The Dutch attack was ferocious after this which resulted into a goal from Yibbi. Although, Netherlands could not manage to hit another goal and level the score despite consistent efforts and due to India’s robust defence.

Despite the defeat, Netherlands still continues to hold the top position in the league table, while India has ascended to the second spot.
