Regional Desk, 22 March, 2022: Noted writer in English and Assamese and the editor-in-chief of NewsOp24 Professor Dayananda Pathak, has been honored with the Birina Gosthi Award on 13th March 2022 by the Birina Gosthi, a state level social organization with its head quarter at Daulasal, Nalbari district. The award has been given to him by the Deputy Commissioner of Bajali District of Assam. Prof Pathak, of late, received many social and literary honors from different literary and social organizations in recognition of his significant literary works. His English tarnation of the plays of Sankardeva and Madhabdeva, two Vaishanvite poet-playwrights of 16th century India, brought in marvelous impact across the dramatic fraternity. His translations of Sankardeva and Madhabdeva`s plays to English have also been translated to French and Spanish by some French and Spanish actors.
Prof. Pathak is an illustrious literary critic and a theatre activist. Prof. Pathak is also an Indo-Anglian poet writing in English. Being branded as a post-modernist, Prof. Pathak has had three anthologies of his verses.
Prof. Pathak has also translated a few plays of Shakespeare.
In the same meeting Tulika Devi of News 18 also received award for her sincere service to active journalism. All the office-bearers of the cultural fraternity attended the celebration.
