Birthday with last year`s cake – SEBA under sharp criticism
Guwahati, 11 March, 2022: The Board of Secondary education [SEBA] in Assam has come under sharp public criticism for its decision to hold the HSLC final examination 2022 with the question papers printed for final examination 2021. Last year, this examination was not held for covidomaniac reasons. Last year the area of study was reduced to 30%. Besides, results were declared without any examination whatsoever. A committee was constituted to pattern the criteria for the declaration of the results. Many students groping to go ahead has rewarded with satisfactory mark sheets to the examinees. This year the syllabus for the examination has been reduced to 40%. Now the students are at a loss about the new cut-out 10% from the syllabus. If this trend goes on, the next year`s examination may be further reduced to 50% of the normal syllabus.
People, by and large, have started reacting to the policy of SEBA. A large section of the students feel frustrated. Next year admission to SEBA controlled schools will be adversely affected.
