National Desk, 10 March, 2022: The counting of the assembly elections held in five states in India begin on Thursday morning.

BJP is set to comfortably form the second consecutive government in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of the current Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to the last update on Thursday evening from the Election Commission of India, BJP has won 103 seats and leading in 149. While the Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party grabbed only 29 seats and leading in 85 seats.

The Bahujan Samajwadi Party has failed to open the account so far, while the Congress has won only one seat and leading in another. In fact, the Congress has failed to do well in other states too.

The BJP is also leading in Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa and set to form governments in these states as well.

In Manipur, the BJP under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh has won 24 seats and lead in 8 seats according to the last update. The National People’s Party stood second with 6 victories and 2 leads.

However, the Punjab is the real talking point, as the Arivind Kejriwal led Aam Admi Party is set to create history and form the government in Punjab. The counting for most of the seats in the constituencies are complete, and AAP has bagged 91 seats. The Congress has won only 18 and the BJP-Akali alliance managed to win a meagre 5.

Responding to the results, Kajriwal has thanked the people of Punjab for this historical mandate.

Similarly, Yogi Adityanath also thanked the voters of Uttar Pradesh for the verdict.

Prime Minister Modi is also likely to give his official reaction after the counting is over and the final numbers are conformed.
