Guwahati: Assam has become the first state in India to return to the pre-COVID atmosphere. On Tuesday, almost all restrictions enforced by the state government were withdrawn.
The new announcement by the state authorities has allowed most things in the state to come back to normal functioning.
Firstly, the face-to- face lectures in all the schools and other educational institutions have been allowed to resume again, which was prevented for a long time now.
Besides this, the railway and air travellers would not require a compulsory COVID test on their arrival from within or outside the state anymore.
Similarly, COVID tests for patients arriving at hospitals have also been removed.
Most importantly, the new notification has finally ended the night curfews, allowing the free movement of people within the state.
Additionally, restrictions in relation to the congregation of limited people in social gatherings like marriage parties and others has also been eliminated.
However, the notification still makes it mandatory for people to use masks and sanitizers, including the maintenance social distancing as precautionary measures. Additionally, people would also require to produce vaccination certificates before entry into busy public places like shopping malls and others.
The state authorities along with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have stated that the Assam has been able to become the first state in India to remove the pandemic related constraints due to the improved vaccine drive and COVID cases in the state.
Further, it has also been informed that the situation in the state will be reviewed on regular occasions.
Earlier, in line with the countrywide lockdown, in Assam too, the first lockdown was imposed during March 2020. Since then, the normalcy of people’s lives have been severely impacted.
Meanwhile, as per the recent updates, Assam has reported 29 new COVID cases, including three deaths.
Similarly, 19, 968 new cases have been recorded in the whole of India, including around 673 casualties within the last 24 hours.
